I really like this neat shelf. My bearded dragon has explored it a couple of times and it holds his weight with no problem. It’s basically styrofoam, so I imagine it might get shredded by his claws eventually but so far so good. The color is a bit red for my set-up; I wish I had ordered the earth color instead. The magnets that attach the ledge are contained within little pucks of styrofoam—those are about 1” thick so be aware that you will need clearance on the outside of whatever wall you decide to attach it to.The hardest part about using this product is that the magnets were so powerful, I was afraid I'd crack my terrarium's glass when installing it. Fortunately, it's been two years since I purchased it, and it hasn't budged nor caused any other problems.I've got a corn snake, he's just about fully grown at roughly 3 feet long. He rests very comfortably on this rock when he coils up. It's his favorite place to relax outside of his hides.I just bought another one for my friend, who is getting her first snake soon. Very excited to present this gift to her.I think I like this. Glad to have a ledge with magnets to use as a basking area for my RES turtles. I had a log in my aquarium for years but the turtles were always knocking it down in the water causing it to turn yellow from the tannins.With this large mojave ledge, I was able to increase the water level and remove some rocks that impeded their swimming. For the most part the water is clearer now. However, I should have put the ledge in a bucket of water for a couple days. There seems to be some particles that float on the top of the water probably emanating from the foam material.I wish that I could have put the ledge in the correct way but the water pushes it up too high for the Turtle to climb up so I had to turn the ledge upside down. Now the turtles can climb it but there is much less surface area so they can only go up one at a time.I wrote the company before buying this product and they claimed it was fine In a watered aquarium. We will see. I suspect I will get a year out of it. Would rate five stars if there was a third magnet. I just so happen to have some fake coral that I am using just in case to prop it up. The description says It can hold 2 pounds and I think my 20+-year-old turtles are a little over 1 pound and would knock it down without that additional support.They are a little crumbly when you first get them so I rinse mine off pretty good. Very sturdy and stay on well, my snakes love to climb on them and use them all the time. Highly recommend!Works great for my adult male RES turtle tanks. This was a replacement for an older ledge which lasted a couple of years.I really wish they added a 3rd extra-strength magnet, especially for use in tanks for adult-sized turtles. Naturally, since it's buoyant the ledge will pop off if you try to force it too much below a certain level in the water. Also, if you've affixed below that "sweet spot" & if the RES tries to climb onto it the wrong way the ledge can pop off. Both magnets are near the top of the ledge, which works great for vivariums I'm sure, but a 3rd magnet helping to hold the bottom of the ledge in place would REALLY help, especially if mounted in H2O.I have a sloped ramp leading up to one end of the ledge, but one of my RES likes to do things the hard way by doing pull ups on the opposite side. Over time, it looks like a magnet got loose inside the ledge, causing the ledge to pop off more easily. Gonna see if I can fix the old ledge with silicone & mod with a 3rd magnet.I also wish they had a more durable coating on the ledge below the H2O line cuz RES are notorious for chewing on everything. You occasionally have to scoop up grey floating bits. Thankfully i've seen no problems health-wise over the years--yet.NOTE: This ledge works for MALE RES turtles, which are much smaller than females. Pet-Tech would have to make a larger one to fit an adult female RES.Overall: Works well. Looks natural. Easy to clean. The edges will wear over the years, but that's expected. If Pet-Tech added that 3rd extra-strength magnet this'll be perfect for your adult male RES turtle tank.The images for this product make it look like you will receive a smooth item with a “rock-like” finish.What I received felt like a cheap piece of foam that was painted using some kind of spray paint. Whatever was used to color this item left all kinds of sharp edges and dust on the outside, as well as in the crevices.Returning would be inconvenient, so I decided to make this work. To make it safe for a leopard gecko (or other reptile) you’ll have to thoroughly clean the item, sand down any sharp edges, and remove all of the dusty coating. This last part was harder than expected, and it took about an hour of my time to make this suitable for use. I cannot have my leopard gecko licking and ingesting any particles of the (possibly toxic) coating.What I have now is perfect, although it doesn’t look nearly as nice as the photos. I just wish it arrived in usable condition and didn’t require so much effort to “clean up.”Overall this is a great idea however I think it could have been executed with better materials. The magnets work great, easy installation and can hold my adult bearded dragon. but like other reviews have stated it’s made out of foam, which wouldn’t be an issue however it was covered in foam dust upon arrival and I worry it won’t hold up to his claws. I covered the whole thing in a couple coats of modge podge and crossing my fingers it won’t get shredded or dusty againMy beardie Wrex has absolutely loved it since I bought it. It's his favourite thing for basking. I am an idiot and I set it up upside down but Wrex still loved it. We're currently using it rightside up (seen in the pictures).I don't know about other people, but for me, this item is super easy to clean with just water and a paper towel. Wrex poops on it a lot. I think that's beardie language for "I love it!"
