In the summer of 1980, the movie "Times Square", came out and one of the songs on it was Suzi Quatro's "Rock Hard", a little later Suzi 30 at the time of this release, would drop her 7th studio offering of the same name, and give us (IMO), her best album to date. Suzi's band consisted of her than husband Len Tuckey on guitar, Jamie Crompton on guitar and the smooth Dave Neal on drums. Recorded in California with Mike Chapman behind the boards. The album starts with the classic title track and Dave Neal's solid drumming, Suzi growls with the best of 'em here, check out the video on You Tube. They do a great take of The Dave Clark 5 nugget "Glad All Over", "Love Is Ready", would be what Joan Jett would make famous in the early eighties. "State Of Mind", is a solid rock number with some smooth passages and a great Len Tuckey solo. "Woman Cry", gives us some Jamaicain rhythm, "Lipstick", would be Suzi's last hit America, hitting #51, with it's Bo Diddley beat, about a guy cheating on his girl, who's going to get even! "Hard Headed", is a look ahead to some hair band stuff in the mid-80's, great guitar by Len, a neat hard rocker. "Ego In The Night", has some new wave influences, a great tune, can't get it out of your head. The dramatic mid-tempo rocker "Lonely Is The Hardest", the hard chargin' rhythm of "Lay Me Down", and the album closes with "Wish Upon Me", has that early Suzi sound with some updated sounds. 7T's did a great job with this re-issue, nice re-mastered sound and putting in a nice booklet and photo's.
